A judge has dismissed attempted murder charges against Kaci Sloan, an Arizona State University student, who targeted and brutally stabbed her classmate, Mara Daffron, 19, on September 19 at ASU’s West Valley campus. Sloan had reportedly chosen Daffron as an “easy target.”
Daffron sustained serious injuries, including a ruptured spleen, and had to undergo emergency surgery for chest and arm wounds following the premeditated attack. Despite the severity of the incident, two counts against Sloan were dismissed during a court hearing, reducing her charges to aggravated assault.
Mara Daffron’s mother expressed her disappointment and frustration, stating, “So the only way there would be justice is if my daughter had actually died?”
Kaci Sloan remains in Maricopa County jail, while Mara Daffron continues to recover from her injuries.
