Zambia Police Service has announced the arrest of 46-year-old Raphael Mangani Nakachinda for alleged seditious practices, contrary to Section 57(1)(b) and Section 60(1)(j) of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
According to the police, Nakachinda allegedly made seditious remarks on September 26, 2024, which were widely circulated in a video on social media. The comments were reportedly intended to incite resistance or disobedience to law and its administration.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that Nakachinda has been detained in police custody while awaiting the fulfillment of police bond conditions.
The Zambia Police Service reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and maintaining public order and security, ensuring that any actions undermining these principles are addressed in line with the law.
