United Transformation Movement (UTM) Secretary General Patricia Kaliati has lambasted former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe over his letter asking State Vice President Dr. Michael Usi to push for a commission of inquiry on a plane crash in Chikangawa Forest.
In the letter seen by this publication, Kabambe wants Usi to engage President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to expedite the institution of Commission of inquiry into the plane crash on June 10, 2024.
But Kaliati was quoted in one of the local daily papers saying that the party is not happy with Kabambe’s plot.
According to Kaliati, the party through her office already asked President Chakwera to institute a commission of inquiry on the matter.
“May be some people have not bought that President of this country is President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera. As a party we communicated directly to the office of the President on the matter,” Kaliati was quoted as saying.
Kaliati went further to mock Kabambe’s letter as a friendly one between two Presidential hopefuls in the party.
Kabambe joined UTM after dumping the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) following a move by former President Peter Mutharika to seek re-election as DPP President.
