Reuben Chitantilo, a village headman in Shakumbila chiefdom of Shibuyunji district, Central Province, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants.

His son, Blessed Chitantilo, confirmed the incident, stating that his father was killed on Wednesday evening around 19:00 hours under unclear circumstances.

According to Blessed, the deceased was resting in the house with his wife but met his fate when he went outside to check on the barking dogs.

Following the gunshot, neighbors rushed outside only to find Reuben Chitantilo motionless in a pool of blood.

Police are yet to issue a statement on the incident.
