Mafco FC, through their captain Paul Khado Ndhlovu, has today issued a public apology to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC and its supporters for their actions during yesterday’s match at Kamuzu Stadium.

The apology was made through a post on the official Facebook page of Mafco FC. It reads: “We are sorry to the Bullets Family and Wongani Lungu as well for what happened during our match. As a captain, I really feel it was wrong. Being a leader on the field, I should have managed the tempers of my players, but it happens in football. We are one. Wishing him a quick recovery.”

The apology comes after Wongani Lungu suffered leg pain from being deliberately stepped on by Mafco FC players during the match, which turned into a scene of violent conduct.

The incident has since sparked widespread criticism from Malawian football fans.
