In a surprise move during a live performance in Austin, Texas, Grammy Award-winning rapper Tyler, The Creator dissed Tesla CEO Elon Musk on stage, leaving fans and media buzzing. While performing his song “911 / Mr. Lonely,” Tyler altered the original lyrics, which had previously given Musk a shout-out, and instead directed a pointed insult at the billionaire entrepreneur.
In the original version of the song, Tyler’s lyrics praised Musk, along with Beyoncé and Celine Dion. The original verse reads: “My thirst levels are infinity and beyond
Sippin’ on that lemonade, I need a Beyoncé
Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion
Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon Musk.”
However, in the Austin performance, Tyler dramatically changed the lyric, saying: “Sucks you can’t gas me up / Man, fuck Elon.”
The sudden jab at Musk has puzzled fans and observers, as Tyler has not previously shown any animosity towards the SpaceX and Tesla CEO. The reason for the diss remains unclear, sparking conversation on social media and beyond about whether there’s a deeper story behind the lyrical change or if it was a spontaneous, preformative act.
As of now, neither Elon Musk nor Tyler, The Creator has made any public comment about the incident, leaving fans to speculate on the motivation behind the rapper’s on-stage outburst.
