Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDEDI) has organized demonstrations next week Thursday to force President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to institute a commission of inquiry into the death of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and 8 others.
The development follows an expiry of an ultimatum CDEDI gave President Chakwera on September 18, 2024.
CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa who once served as State House Press Officer during the reign of former President Peter Mutharika, has confirmed of the development in a statement.
According to Namiwa, CDEDI wants Chakwera to institute an independent Commission of inquiry into the death of Chilima following a plane crash on June 10, 2024.
Namiwa said the inquiry help to provide answers to many questions Malawians are having on the plane crash.
The demonstrations are scheduled from Lilongwe City Centre to the District Commissioner’s office in the capital.
