United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi has denies rumours hovering on the social media that he has been offered a ministerial post by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera following cabinet reshuffle speculations.

Writing on his official facebook page Muluzi emphasized that the party is moving on independently.

“I want to address the circulating rumors about my joining the cabinet or entering into an alliance. Let me take this opportunity to set the record straight. As I clearly emphasized during my acceptance speech at the convention, the UDF is moving forward independently.

“If any alliances are to be considered in the future, they will only happen after thorough consultations with the UDF membership. Our focus remains on strengthening the party and staying true to our vision for the people of Malawi,” said Atupele.

He added: “I have complete confidence in the strength of our party and our ability to chart an independent path toward a better future for all Malawians.

“Let’s remain focused, united, and committed to building a brighter tomorrow for our nation.”

Some concerned UDF supporters continue to protest any move by the UDF leadership to form an Alliance with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) of President Chakwera.

The supporters claim that the forming an alliance with MCP is suicidal.
