Police at Jenda in Mzimba have arrested a 20-year-old man, Orphan Chirwa for breaking into five homes where he went away with assorted items within trading centre in the district.
The arrest followed an intelligence driven operation conducted by Jenda Police detectives after receiving five complaints with a similar mode of breaking.
It has been established that the suspect broken into five houses in the same night at the begining of the month of October this year, starting with the house of Steven Banda where he took three bags of maize, one bag of fertilizer and a subwoofer. Only subwoofer has been recovered.
He then broken into the house of Chipiliro Banda where he stolen seven pails of maize and all have been recovered upon his arrest.
During the same night he also broken into the house of Foster Phwitika where he went away with a 21-inch Plasma screen which has also been recovered.
The suspect further broken into the house of Susan Lusale Moyo where he took a Samsung plasma screen 21-inch and money amounting to K90, 000 of which only a plasma screen has been recovered.
As he was wrapping up his operation that night, the suspect broke into the house of Lenard Lawrence where he took a Samsung plasma screen and I.U power bank. All the items have been recovered upon his arrest.
The suspect has been charged with burglary and theft which are contrary to sections 309 subsection (2) and 271 of the penal code respectively.
The suspect will be taken to court to answer his charges upon completion of paper work.
