The Karonga First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced 23-year-old Palichi Chavula to six years in prison for breaking into a house and theft in Kaporo, Karonga District.

During the hearing presided over by Magistrate Yolum Kanyenda, the court was informed that on June 13 this year, Chavula broke into Regina Mwakikunga’s house and stole six buckets of rice and clothes.

In delivering the sentence, Magistrate Ezekiel Kamtikana ruled that Chavula would serve six years for the first charge of breaking and entering and an additional one and a half years for the charge of theft.
