Information reaching this publication indicates that four opposition political parties have organized a media briefing on Wednesday afternoon in the capital Lilongwe to push for electoral reforms ahead of the 2025 polls.

The development follows a recent court decision to reject an application by the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) asking the Malawi Electoral Commission not to only allow Nation IDs as the only requirement for voters.

The four political parties are; the United Democratic Front (UDF) which is headed by Atupele Muluzi, Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), DPP and the United Transformation Movement (UTM).

The join media briefing will be held at Golden Peacock Hotel in the capital Lilongwe from 2pm, according to a statement seen by this publication.

The briefing has ignited speculations that the four political parties are heading for a gland coalition ahead of the 2025 polls.
