Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, has confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Konte Mweemba, who is separated from his 47-year-old wife, Matilda Chinungu.

According to  Daka,  on October 12, 2023, around 20:00 hours, Mweemba went to his brother-in-law Monitor Mapulanga’s house to discuss bringing his wife home.

After failing to reach an agreement, Mweemba pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed his wife.

Her brother, who heard the commotion, rushed to help but was also stabbed in the head and back as he tried to flee.

The suspect escaped before help could arrive, and police have launched a manhunt.

The victims were treated at Chikankata Mission Hospital.
