American drug kingpin Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, the infamous co-founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF) crime syndicate, is no longer behind bars after nearly two decades in prison.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Big Meech was transferred from FCI Coleman Low in Wildwood, Florida, to community confinement, now residing in a halfway house under the supervision of the BOP’s Miami Residential Reentry Management Office.
Big Meech was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008 for charges related to drug trafficking and money laundering.
His sentence was recently shortened by almost three years, but it remains unclear exactly when he’ll officially finish serving his time.
Brittany K. Barnett, Big Meech’s attorney and co-founder of the Buried Alive Project, expressed her joy over his release from federal prison. She emphasized how he focused on personal growth during his time behind bars and is now ready to embark on a new chapter in his life.
Meanwhile, the Black Mafia Family’s story continues to captivate audiences, thanks in part to 50 Cent, who produced both a successful docuseries and a TV show chronicling BMF’s history.
The series has also featured several big names from the Hip Hop world, including Snoop Dogg, 2 Chainz, Lil Baby, Yung Miami, and even Eminem. Big Meech’s son, Lil Meech, has played a central role in the show and has become a rising actor.
As fans eagerly await the already greenlit fourth season of the BMF series, it remains to be seen whether Big Meech will be able to witness its next chapter as a free man.
