Chisomo Felix, a 7-year-old girl, has died after being hit by a truck while crossing the road at Dzomba Zebra Crossing along Lilongwe – Kasungu M1 road in Lumbadzi.
Lumbadzi Police publicist, Felix Kwinyani, says Chisomo was a Standard One pupil at Dzomba Primary School and she was killed by a Tata lorry which was being driven by Matthews Makungwa, 53, an employee at Shayona Cement Company, who lost control of his vehicle.
Due to the impact, Chisomo (now deceased) sustained severe injuries, including an open pelvic fracture, and died while receiving treatment at Blessings Hospital.
Kwinyani says the driver is currently in police custody and will appear before court soon to face reckless driving charges.
