State witness, Sergeant Clement Dinyelo, says Lester Maganga was granted a Visa to accompany Ministry of Information officials to the USA for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2023 but he was removed from the list.
Dinyelo confirms the suspect was not around when Witika was killed as travel documents show that he left and returned home from the USA on 17 September and 25 September 2023.
He says the suspect told them that he went to the USA to meet his friend.
Dinyelo further says the suspect changed his phone immediately when he returned home.
He says much as their investigations are still ongoing on the count of murder, they have every reason to believe that Maganga “deliberately travelled to the USA to coordinate” Allan Witika’s killing.
Sergeant Dinyelo says the suspect might have sent some people to deal with Witika and was giving instructions to “some guys” to commit the offence while outside the country.
The case is currently underway this afternoon and is before Justice Mzonde Mvula.
