Renowned Malawian musician, Namadingo, has canceled his participation in a highly anticipated show scheduled to take place at  at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on 17 November 2024.

The show tagged ‘Umodzi Music Concert’, was set to feature Namadingo alongside other prominent artists such as Lulu and Ketura.

According to a statement posted by Namadingo today on his official Facebook page, the disagreement stems from a contractual issue between him and the event organizers.

Namadingo claimed that they had agreed on a performance fee of K10 million, but the organizers could only offer k6 million. This led to his decision to withdraw from the concert.

In his post, Namadingo expressed his frustration over the situation, stating:

“If I charge you 10 Million and you only have 6 Million, don’t put me on your poster. It’s Ten, not Six. I won’t perform there”, reads Namadingo’s Post.

Namadingo also mentioned his displeasure with the event organisers for placing his photo on the poster as a headliner despite not meeting his payment requirements.

At the time of writing, the organisers of the Umodzi Music Concert have yet to respond publicly to Namadingo’s decision or the payment dispute.
