Former United Democratic Front (UDF) Eastern Region Governor Hon Chigomire has joined the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ahead of the 2025 polls.
DPP Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka welcomed Chigomire and 157 other members from various political parties at Mkwepere Trading Center in Senior Traditional Authority Nyambi, Machinga on Sunday.
Other members were from Malawi Congress party (MCP), United Transformation Movement (UTM) and Peoples Party (PP).
Speaking after welcoming the defectors, Msaka could not hide his excitement, saying former President Peter Mutharika is returning to power next year.
On his part DPP Govenor Daudi Chikwanje urged the new members to feel free and campaign heavily for Mutharika.
Chikwanje said the opposition DPP under Mutharika is gaining support each passing day.
