A 32 year old man is reportedly in Police cell in Zomba for allegedly breaking into a church at Katamba Catholic Parish and went away with a half metre of Mary’s statue, one misal book, two pieces of cloths ,one Alta cross, two hand church bells ,three church plastic flowers and others worth MK671,000.
Police in Zomba have confirmed of the development and identified the suspected as Blessings Madalitso Komwa.
According to the police report, the suspected is allegedly to have committed the offence on the night of 17-18.
The stolen items have since been recovered.
“Now be informed that through intelligence driven gathering conducted by Domasi and Sakata the suspect Blessings Madalitso Komwa aged 32 years ,vge Nkumbira ,T/A Nkagula D.Zomba ( Ex – convict ) has been arrested after the recovery of the following items: a half metre of Mary’s statue, one misal book, two pieces of cloths ,one Alta cross,two hand church bells ,three church plastic flowers and the scene of crime was re-visited and the suspect demonstrated on how he commited the offence.
“The above mentioned recoveries have been positively identified,” reads in part the police report.
The suspect will appear in court on October 28, 2024.
