Former Minister of Energy Newton Kambala who is also vying for Presidency post in United Transformation Movement (UTM) on Monday visited the place where a plane carrying Dr. Saulos Chilima crashed in Nthungwa Forest in Mzimba.
Kambala was accompanied by UTM director of youth for the central region Aaron Chiweza, Annie Nyadani Makuta, Mr Saonda land Mavuto Banda.
Speaking after visiting the site Kambala asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to institute a commission of inquiry on the accident.
He said the visit to the crash site is to offer support to similar calls made by Mary Chilima, wife to the late Vice President regarding the need for the commission of inquiry which would enlighten Malawians on what really happened.
Chilima together with former first lady Patricia Shanil Zimbiri and 7 others died in a plane crash on June 10,2024.
