The officiating crew in charge of the match between Ekhaya FC and MMF Marine in the Thumbs-up Premier Division Southern Region League on 21st October 2024 at Mpira Stadium, Blantyre, was forced to flee for their lives following the final whistle.
Monkey Bay-based soldiers from MMF Marine, dissatisfied with what they perceived as biased officiating, took matters into their own hands, displaying aggression towards the match officials. The game ended with a 4-1 victory for Ekhaya FC.
In video, circulating on social media, is showing Marine soldier chasing referees like they are chasing a thief just top beat them.
“This is very bad for our football!” commented one observer. Concerns are growing over the lack of discipline in army teams, a serious issue that is casting a shadow over the beautiful game.
This comes barely after few days, Super League of Malawi punished MAFCO Fc and its three player for miss conduct in the field of match.
