In Zambia: A truck transporting building materials from Lundazi District to Kanyolo Nyolo in Chama District overturned on Munyukwa road in Chief Chifunda’s Chiefdom. The truck was en route to Chifunda Chiefdom at the time of the accident, and no specific details about the vehicle have been provided yet.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Chama District Council Chairperson, Gift Kumwenda, confirmed the incident to Kwenje Radio this morning. He mentioned that the truck was hired by a contractor working in the district.
Mr. Kumwenda attributed the accident to the poor state of local roads and highlighted the need for urgent road repairs in the district. He stressed that part of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) should be allocated for fuel, as the district has already acquired earth-moving equipment to improve road conditions and make them safer for transport.
