Police in Mzuzu have arrested A 25-year-old man identified as Charles Chinkonde for committing cybercrime.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu Police, Cecilia Mfune, has confirmed the arrest said the suspect who runs Facebook account named CII NICE committed the offence on October 2, 2024.
CII NICE used his Facebook account which has 30,000 followers, to post a defamatory message and photo of a young woman.
CII NICE posted that the girl had been sexually exploited without payment. The post quickly spread across various social media platforms, including WhatsApp.
The victim reported the issue to the police, stating that someone was humiliating her on social media. CII NICE has been arrested yesterday on 23 October 2024, and is now facing charges under the Electronic Transactions and Cybersecurity Act.
CII NICE ‘Charles Chinkonde’ hails from Ntcheu District, and he will soon appear in court to answer charges levelled against him.
