Justice Duncan Tambala, a distinguished figure in Malawi’s judiciary and a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeal, has passed away in Blantyre.
He served in the Supreme Court from 1998 to 2009, leaving a legacy of legal excellence and commitment to justice.
In addition to his role in the Supreme Court, Justice Tambala was elected as a judge on the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights in June 2010, where he served a six-year term, advocating for human rights and judicial integrity across Africa.
His legal expertise also extended to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Court, where he served as a Justice of Appeal.
Justice Tambala’s passing marks the loss of a deeply respected legal professional who contributed significantly to Malawi’s judiciary and to broader regional human rights initiatives.
