The United Transformation Movement (UTM) party says its planned national executive committee meeting scheduled to take place today in Lilongwe will proceed as earlier planned.
This is contrary to UTM President Michael Usi stand who says the meeting has been cancelled.
The party’s spokesperson, Felix Njawala, has told the press this morning that party officials had a meeting last night where they agreed to proceed with the meeting despite the arrest of party secretary general Patricia Kaliati by the police.
Njawala said the party’s deputy secretary general, Ben Chidyaonga, will sit on behalf of Kaliati, and party president, Dr. Michael Usi, is also expected to attend the meeting.
