18 Hospitalized After Drinking ‘Thobwa’ at Cemetery Ceremony in Nsanje

Eighteen people have been admitted to Nsanje District Hospital, while an additional 34 received assistance after consuming a sweet beer (Thobwa) during a cemetery ceremony.
According to Limbanazo Likumbo, a medical officer at the hospital, the incident occurred in Ndenguma Village within the area of Senior Chief Malemia.
Likumbo reported that the affected individuals, including men, women, and children, arrived at the hospital experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting.
The exact cause of their symptoms is still unknown, and medical personnel are conducting tests to determine the underlying issue.
