People who are suspected to be Malawi Congress Party (MCP) followers have mounted on Sunday attacked Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) member, Chimwemwe Chipungu at Nsundwe where they mounted a road block.

According to information at hand, the suspected armed youths were searching each and every vehicle that was passing through the said roadblocks mounted at Mzundwe, Mpingu and Kasiya.

Chpingu confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

“They ordered me to stop and they searched my vehicle after which I heard one shouting that ‘Chipungu uja ndi ameneyi, tiyeni nayeni,” said Chipungu.

He said that immediately they started stoning his vehicle where they broke the windscreen, driver side window and rear tail light.

Chipungu suspected that the people were targeting to stop DPP followers from going to Mchinji where there was DPP rally.

However, Chipungu was on his way to his house in Mpingu although he got ordered to return to Lilongwe where he reported the matter at Area 3 Police.

Chipungu was driving a BMW 740i model.
