Nsanje District Health Officer George Mbotwa has confirmed that three individuals, including a village headman, have tragically lost their lives following a fire caused by a gasoline bottle at Khungubwe village in the area of Traditional Authority Ngowe, Chikwawa.
Emergency services rushed the victims to Nsanje District Hospital, where 24-year-old Peterson Gracium died shortly after arrival.
The following day, 79-year-old Falesi Siliro passed away while receiving treatment. Additionally, Group Village Head Ndomera died at Sorgin Health Center.
Chikwawa police publicist Dickson Matemba reported that officers have been deployed to the scene to investigate the incident, as the community grapples with the loss of these three lives.
