President Lazarus Chakwera has directed Local Government Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda and Dedza District Commissioner Thomas Chigwenembe to work on TA Kasaumbu chieftaincy which has fallen vacant for 11 years.

He was speaking Tuesday, at Kanyama Trading Centre in Tradirional Authoritu Kasumbu during his whistle stop tour on development projects in Dedza district.

His remarks followed an appeal from Group Village Head Kanyama urging the President to intervene on the matter saying the previous chief was stopped by the previous regime allegedly on family disagreements grounds.

“There are no disagreements issues here. We, as a family live peacefully. I request you to intervene on this matter because people are failing to access justice in this area,” said GVH Kanyama.

In reaction President Chakwera directed Minister Chimwendo Banda and DC Chigwenembe to ensure a letter is submitted to his office on the issue.

“Make sure you send me a letter as soon as possible on this issue so that it is resolved” he said.

Member of Parliamnet for the area, Dedza South Constituency Ishmael Onani said President Chakwera was introduced to people of the district by late John Tembo who was also president of Malawi Congress Party.

He said for this reason people in the district will always stand by the President promising 98 percent of votes from the district in the general election.
