Lumbadzi Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Felix Kwinyani confirmed the incident and has since identified the victims as Enita Sasu, 40, and Sililani Batisoni, 18.
According to the police, the two succumbed to suffocation caused by the lightning strike, as confirmed by a postmortem examination conducted by medical personnel at Area 25 Health Centre.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 28, 2024, in the afternoon during a thunderstorm.
The victims were inside their house when the lightning strike.
Currently, the police are advising members of the communities to take necessary precautions, including; avoiding sitting on open areas or tall objects and switching off all electronic appliances during thunderstorms
