A young man in Ndirande, Blantyre, was apprehended this morning after being caught red-handed removing metal crosses from graves at Malabada Cemetery.

Although his identity remains unknown, the suspect was caught in the act and had already removed around 30 crosses.

The exact motive for his actions is unclear, but local residents speculate that he intended to sell the crosses as scrap materials.

Recently, police have received multiple reports of unidentified individuals stealing various items, including signposts and Water board property, believed to be sold as scrap metal.

The police are continuing their investigations and urging the public to report suspicious activities, particularly regarding thefts of public and private property, which have been increasing in the area.
