Business activities at Chitakale Market in Mulanje have been disrupted due to clashes between security personnel and local residents following the killing of a man allegedly caught cutting down trees in Muli Forest.
Police officers have arrived at the scene and are deploying tear gas to control the crowd. In response, angry residents have set fire to tea crops, vandalized property at Mulli Company, and damaged various assets, including a cattle pen.
