One child has died while seven others have sustained injuries after they were struck by lightning in Thyolo last night.

Thyolo district commissioner Hudson Kuphanga reported that five people were struck at Matchuwana Village in the area of senior chief Mchilamwela and are currently admitted to the district hospital with burns.

Three other individuals, including the deceased, are from Chafa Village, Traditional Authority Changata in the district.
