Former Minister of Energy Newton who is vying for Presidential post in United Transformation Movement (UTM) has submitted his nomination papers ahead of the party’s elective conference.
Kambala is the fourth Presidential Aspirant to submit his nomination papers.
Former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe, engineer Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka and UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati submitted their nomination papers last week.
Two candidates namely; State Vice President Dr. Michael Usi who is also UTM President and UTM Youth Director Penjani Kalua are yet to submit their nomination papers.
Speaking after presenting nomination papers Kambala said he is contesting on the post of Presidency following pressure from party followers.
“Once i fail to make it at the convention i will support whosoever will emerge victorious. All I want is the legacy of Dr. Saulos Chilima to continue,” said Kambala.
UTM convention is slated for November 17, 2024 in Mzuzu.
