Competitions and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has disclosed that it is investigating players in the fertiliser industry on overpricing allegations.

CFTC Spokesperson, Innocent Helema, said the Commission has noted with concern that local players are tagging the commodity at about 133% over the aggregate landing costs.

Helema has however refused to mention the domineering firms, arguing other information will be divulged upon completion of investigations.

Guided by regional competition agency studies, the CFTC further noted that apart from overpricing, the local market lacks competition as only two players dominate the industry.
