Police in Mzimba have arrested a 27 year-old man on suspicion of  allegedly impersonating a Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier to defraud locals of approximately K10 million.

Mzimba Police spokesperson Maria Banda, has identified the suspect as Lovemore Singini who hails from Wayenda Singini Village, under Chief Mtwalo in the district.

According to Banda, the suspect convinced parents in the area that he could secure employment for their children in the MDF and then collecting money in return.
