The United Transformation Movement (UTM) has announced an extension for the submission of nomination papers, now set to close on Sunday, ahead of the party’s elective convention in Mzuzu on November 17.

Originally, the deadline for submitting nomination papers was November 4, but UTM’s publicity secretary, Felix Njawala, confirmed the extension due to some aspirants being unable to submit their papers on time.

So far, four individuals—Patricia Kaliati, Dalitso Kabambe, Newton Kambala, and Mathews Mtumbuka—have officially presented their nomination papers to contest for the party’s presidential ticket.

However, UTM’s president, Dr. Michael Usi, and the party’s Director of Youth, Penjani Kalua, have yet to submit their papers, both expected to vie for the presidential seat. The extension provides them and other potential candidates with additional time to finalize their submissions.
