Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 35-year-old Symon Josephy for allegedly sleeping with his 9-year- old girl at Kunthulu Village in the district.
The victim is a younger sister to the suspect’s wife.
According to reports filed, the girl has been staying with her sister’s family since 2023.
On 5 November 2024 at around 2100 hours the suspect was coming home from the trading centre where he went drinking beer with his friends.
Upon reaching home the suspect found his wife sleeping and after eating supper he went to the girl’s room where he had unprotected sex with the girl.
After asking the husband about the incident he revealed that he had slept with the girl.
The police referred the victim to the hospital for examination, and the results came out positive.
Meanwhile, the suspect will appear before court to answer the charge of having sex with a minor.
