The police in Lumbadzi arrested 46-year-old Edward Banda on the suspicion that he slept with his 6-year-old stepdaughter.
Lumbadzi police spokesperson Felix Kwinyani said this happened when the child’s mother went to the bathroom to take a bath.
When she came back, she was surprised that the child was having trouble sleeping and after looking at her, she realized that she had been abused.
The woman reported the matter to the chief who advised her to go to the hospital and the results of the hospital confirmed that the child was indeed infected.
