The trial involving two police officers and a businessman accused of neglect and abuse, which led to the amputation of a 13-year-old boy’s limbs in Mulanje, resumed today.
Dr. Emmanuel Malekwa, the sixth state witness and a medical professional from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, is currently giving his testimony regarding the boy’s treatment.
The two officers, Stanley Chigalu and Charles Mbewe, are accused of abusing the boy after allegedly holding him in custody for three days with his arms bound by rubber ties.
The businessman, James Chiphwanya, is also accused of being responsible for the boy’s confinement and abuse.
The case continues to unfold as authorities work to gather more details about the tragic incident.
