The Malawi National Council of Sports has announced that the 2024 Malawi sports awards ceremony will take place at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi on 28th February 2025.

This will be the 6th edition since the Malawi sports council started conducting the awards to sports personality in the country.

The Malawi national council of sports (MNCS) board member and chairperson of the marketing and research committee Gladson Kuyeli said this during a press briefing held in Blantyre on Thursday 7th November, 2024.

“This is an improved version of what we have been doing for the past 6 years, we want to take the event level high by taking the annual event to the lake.” Said Kuyeli.

“The changes signify diversity of the awards.”

Kuyeli further said that another notable change is the introduction of best sports journalists for print and electronic which has replaced the media house category.

Kuyeli also started that in the past technical people were the ones doing the selection and this time around the general public will be involved in the voting process.

Since inauguration in 2017 the annual awards ceremony were being held at Bingu international convention centre( BICC).

At least 14 categories will be awarded and the theme for this year’s awards for is ‘ celebrating sports excellence.’
