A large crowd of Malawians has gathered at Simon Hara village, located in the area of Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District, to pay their final respects to Othaniel Hara, the former Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Second Vice President, who tragically lost his life in a road accident on Saturday at Edundu, also in Mzimba District.

Among the dignitaries in attendance are former Vice President Khumbo Kachali, Minister of Defense Harry Mkandawire, who is representing President Lazarus Chakwera, current FAM Second Vice President Lameck Zetu Khonje, former FAM President Walter Nyamilandu Manda, officials from the Super League of Malawi, Northern Region Football Association of Malawi, as well as several traditional leaders.

The gathering has been marked by emotional tributes as eulogies continue to be delivered in remembrance of Hara, whose contributions to Malawian football left a lasting impact. His legacy in the sporting community has resonated deeply with those present, including officials and supporters from across the country’s football scene.

A burial ceremony is expected to take place later this afternoon. Hara’s untimely passing has left a void within the football fraternity, but his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
