he Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has vowed to continue with the demonstration it organized in collaboration with other opposition parties, including the United Transformation Movement (UTM), United Democratic Front (UDF), and others, despite the running battles that occurred in Lilongwe earlier this morning.
The party’s deputy election officer, Mr. Levi Luwemba, stated that the parties are making preparations to begin the protest, which they agreed to start at 11:30 AM.
Earlier, there were running battles between masked men carrying machetes, who were reportedly chasing away youths who wanted to participate in the demonstration at the Lilongwe Community Ground.
The situation forced businesses in Lilongwe to come to a standstill.
