Mwanza Police has today officially transferred a container filled with Sodalite stones, seized from a Chinese national, to the Department of Geological Survey headquarters in Zomba.
Mwanza Police Station spokesperson Hope Kasakula stated that the container had been held by police for several years following its interception at the Mwanza Border.
Kasakula explained that the stones were originally loaded in Phalombe and were en route to Beira, Mozambique, without the necessary inspection certificate from the geological survey or any other documentation to authorize the export.
The handover underscores ongoing efforts to ensure that precious stones are exported with proper regulatory compliance.
