State Vice President Dr. Michael Usi has said he will not attend the United Transformation Movement (UTM) convention slated for Sunday November 17, 2024 in Mzuzu.
Usi revealed this at Kamuzu International Airport upon arrival from Baku, Azerbaijan where he went to attend the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP29).
According to Usi, he is not attending the UTM convention because he does not want to be party to breaking the party’s rules.
“Zomwe akufuna kupangazo asiyeni apange.[ Let them do whatever they want to do]”
Effort to talk to UTM spokesperson Felix Njawala on the matter proved futile.
But earlier this week Njawala hinted that Usi may attend, and speak at the elective conference in Mzuzu considering the fact that he is the President of the party.
He also ruled out possibility of him suing the party.
