The match aim to avenge their 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso on 10 September 2024 at Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako, Mali, when Malawi was headed by coach Patrick Mabedi, who was later dismissed due to poor performance.
In his pre-match remarks, Pasuwa stated that the team is well-prepared and has thoroughly studied their opponents though footage obtained from different media practitioners.
He has called up key players such as Richard Mbulu and Gabadinho Mhango, who are expected to play a pivotal role in turning the tables on Burkina Faso.
Currently, the Flames are at the bottom of Group L with only one point, which they earned after a draw against Burundi on November 14, 2024. With this match being critical to their qualification hopes, the team and fans are hopeful for a strong performance.
