Eight Survive Boat Accident on Lake Malawi After Speedboat Hits Rock

Eight people have survived a boat accident on Lake Malawi when the speedboat they were traveling in hit a rock and capsized.

Mangochi Police Spokesperson Amina Daudi has confirmed the development saying that some fishermen, returning from their trade, came across the wrecked boat and immediately began rescuing the victims.

“All the victims apart from one sustained injuries and have been taken to a private hospital in Blantyre,” said Daudi.

The speedboat had been carrying local tourists who were visiting friends in Mangochi from Blantyre.
