The police in Phalombe have arrested four women for stealing five mobile phones and 140,000 from a villager in the district.
District police spokesman Jimmy Kapanja said the women are 23-year-old Esnart Kaunda, 30-year-old Bernadette Vizent, 25-year-old Memory Enock, both from Blantyre city and 24-year-old Mary John from Chiradzulu district.
Kapanja said that these men committed the crime on the evening of November 18 this year when they robbed a person who was buying clothes at a place in Phalombe market.
Following an investigation, one of the suspects who was nearby at the time was found with this phone.
Kapanga said that here the police managed to arrest some of the suspects and found three mobile phones and money.
The suspects will appear before court.
