A 9-year-old boy, Yasmin Rahman, has died after a house collapsed during a powerful rainstorm in Traditional Authority Mphonde, Nkhotakota, on Tuesday night.

Nkhotakota Police spokesperson, Paul Malimwe, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the boy sustained severe head injuries when the roof caved in. He was rushed to Bua Health Center but succumbed to his injuries.

Medical reports indicated that the boy died due to excessive blood loss.

The storm has left many residents displaced as strong winds and heavy rains destroyed houses in several areas within the district. Authorities are urging for assistance for the affected families.
