Tensions flared yesterday during a match between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium when fans suspected a man near the dressing room of performing juju rituals to make Nomads players weak.

Towards the end of the first half, Wanderers supporters spotted the individual in a restricted area. Believing him to be tampering with their team’s fortunes, they apprehended him and searched his pockets.

In a video shared on Waganyu Facebook page, the search revealed an object resembling charms, which on closer inspection looked like a small engine, transformer, or motorcycle coil containing assorted items.

Despite the discovery, the man denied being a Sing’anga (traditional healer). His presence and the strange object have left fans speculating, further fueling the debate over the role of superstition in football.
