Mwanza Police is keeping in custody a 29-year-old man, Zonie Unyolo for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 9-year-old step daughter who got infected with syphilis in the process.

Mwanza Police, Public Relations Officer, Hope Kasakula said on November, 7 the girls mother noticed that her daughter was struggling to walk.

“She gave her medicine but on November 15, police received a tip from some people that Unyolo had been having sexual intercourse with his step daughter” said Kasakula.

The police publicist said this prompted the law enforcers to arrest Unyolo on the same day.

According to Kasakula, the girl was taken to Mwanza District Hospital for examination where a medical report showed that the girl had sexual intercourse with an adult and was also infected with syphilis.

Meanwhile Unyolo’s case is in court and three witnesses have already testified against him.

Unyolo comes from Chikolosa Village Traditional Authority Kanduku in Mwanza District.
